If, like me, you are finding the wait for the "Tile" book unbearable, you'll be delighted to know that the latest issue of Inspirations, #66, includes an eight-page spread on the Miniature Tulip Tile. There are beautiful photos and detailed step-by-step instructions for all the techniques used in the design. (The project is called Lâle in the magazine.)
This exotic miniature panel, featuring a red tulip in an ornate border, was inspired by a 16th century enamelled wall-tile from Turkey. It is worked on a background of ivory silk with silks and gold metallic threads, beads and tiny gold spangles. It may be framed or made into a box top.
The Inspirations article includes full instructions for the Miniature Tulip Tile kit, which contains all the materials required to work this project.
