Product Description

This pretty embroidered panel was inspired by the flowers of the spring garden and Shakespeare's tragic Ophelia.

Worked on a background of ivory silk duchess satin in stumpwork and surface embroidery, this garland features the Wild Pansy, Viola tricolor, with wired detached petals, beaded Forget-me-nots, Myosotis arvensis, raised Snowdrops, Galanthus nivalis, with wrapped stems, beaded calyx and detached petals, padded English Daisies, Bellis perennis, embroidered with detached chain stitches and tiny bees.

Kit Contents

This embroidery kit contains all materials required to work this project:

  • Ivory silk duchess satin, quilter's muslin, tracing paper, white felt, paper-backed fusible web, size 1 Milliners needle, beads and wires.
  • Threads – 7 hanks of DMC Stranded Cottons, and assorted silks and metallic threads.

Equipment Required

You will need the following equipment:

  • A copy of Shakespeare's Flowers in Stumpwork, which contains all the diagrams and instructions
  • 15 cm (6 in) embroidery hoop
  • Two 10 cm (4 in) embroidery hoops
  • Needles:
    • Crewel/Embroidery sizes 5 - 10
    • Straw/Milliners sizes 3 - 9
    • Sharp Yarn Darners sizes 14 - 18
  • Small sharp-pointed embroidery scissors
  • Fine blunt-nosed tweezers to shape wire
  • Small wire cutters or old scissors
