I bought this book on a whim, having never attempted any stumpwork, from an embroidery shop in England because it looked so interesting and my walls are now covered in stumpwork dragonflies. I followed the instructions (except I don't use gladbake because I can't obtain it locally) and then gradually I branched out, substituting, where necessary, threads, beads, even sea shells in order to complete the specimen box which now takes pride of place in our hall. The best things about this book are that the instructions are straightforward, the diagrams are clear and the designs are beautiful. I have used this book more than any other of my embroidery books (except possibly the book by Jane Nicholas on beetles!) I would definitely recommend.
