The colours of this small square tile were inspired by a panel of 17th century Persian earthenware wall tiles.  Combining goldwork and surface embroidery techniques, this panel is worked on an olive green silk background with silks, gold metallic threads, beads and tiny spangles.  The design features a stylised peony flower, surrounded by a decorative border worked in silk and metal threads, and beads. The tile may be framed or made into the lid of a box.

Kit Contents

This embroidery kit contains all materials required to work this project:

• Green silk satin, quilter's muslin, tracing paper, felt, vliesofix, thin card and wire (30 gauge blue-green).
• Assorted beads and 2 mm spangles (2% gold).
• Threads – Soie d'Alger silks, DMC Perle 3 and Stranded Cotton, gold metallic thread, assorted silk, polyester and nylon threads.

This kit is designed to be worked with the instructions, diagrams and photographs contained in Stumpwork & Goldwork Embroidery, inspired by Turkish, Syrian and Persian Tiles (Book 7).
